LGBTQ People with cancer fact sheet
The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Policy Institute estimates that between 5% and 10% of the general population identifies as LGBTQ. The American Cancer Society estimates there will be 1.9 million newly diagnosed cancer cases and nearly 608,570 deaths from cancer in 2021; using these estimates, there could be approximately 142,500 new cancer cases and more than 45,500 cancer deaths in LGBTQ patients.
